What is Jejetu’s “Sustainable Giving” initiative?
The Sustainable Giving initiative aims to help communities in the two villages of Bugonge and Kalanaga outside Kampala; distributing a set of products to families who lack basic needs such as electricity, proper communications and the ability to cook food safely.
The products you can buy – solar-powered lamps and radios, as well as environmentally-friendly safe cooking stoves – will significantly improve their situation, helping them to a brighter future.
What is Jejetu?
Jejetu Ltd is a Gibraltar-based startup with the intention to use modern technology and an online platform to help drive development, generate positive change, and benefit and empower migrant workers as well as communities in their countries of origin. The Jejetu team’s experience in this industry is second to none and has a proven history in innovation and introducing disruptive technologies.
Sustainable giving is part of Jejetu’s core business. We aim to engage in non-exploitative, ethical activity that benefits communities in the regions where we operate.
Using Jejetu’s distribution network and local operations facilitates a highly effective channel for the distribution of charitable material and equipment, with minimal administrative costs. Donors using this system will engage in direct aid as they can target what to give, see that it is given, and take comfort in the knowledge that every cent will go to towards the intended purpose.
Jejetu aims to usher in positive disruption to how aid can be given with 100% transparency and accountability – where donors directly can see the impact of their goodwill.
Why is Jejetu doing this?
Jejetu is a company that believes in sustainable development – we provide the means for individuals to engage in acts of charity. Jejetu ethically-driven business, we’re not a charity. The charitable acts are undertaken by the users of our platform.
Last year, Jejetu initiated “The Gift of Light”, a sustainable giving campaign in order to test our technical platform. Instead of running an internal test, we decided to conduct a live test of our technology by inviting people to participate in a campaign that would provide items to people in need in rural Uganda.
The result was a resounding success – the 50 solar lamps for sale were quickly bought by kind donors from ten different countries, and the response from the beneficiaries was genuinely heartwarming. This donation meant a significant improvement to peoples’ lives.
For this reason, we decided to implement a sustainable giving programme as a permanent feature of the Jejetu business, creating different campaigns to enable donors across the world help people in the countries and communities where we operate. This campaign is part of that programme.
How do I know that the items I buy have been delivered?
Once the purchases are done, Jejetu will distribute the items to their intended recipients. We will send you feedback once this is done, that shows you the positive impact of your goodwill.
Will all of the actual funds I give reach their recipients?
Yes. The item you choose to buy as a gift through Jejetu is the actual item that will reach those who need it, with no additional, hidden costs.
