Our last sustainable giving initiative was a huge success…

Last year, Jejetu launched a giving initiative of solar-powered lamps to off-grid communities in rural Uganda, providing light in the dark hours. The result was a resounding success – the 50 lamps for sale were quickly bought by kind donors in ten different countries, and the response from the beneficiaries was genuinely heartwarming. This donation translated into a significant improvement to people’s lives.

As a result, we decided to make Sustainable Giving a permanent feature of Jejetu’s activities, launching campaigns and initiatives to help people in the countries where we operate.

…so now, we’re doing it again.

This first Jejetu Sustainable Giving initiative of 2021 aims to help communities in the two villages of Bugonge, in the Mukono District, and Kalangala on Kalangala Island, outside Kampala. Households in these villages lack basic facilities such as electricity, light and the ability to cook food safely:

“Bugonge and Kalanaga comprises of a high population of AIDS orphans and widows. The main occupation of the people is fishing and agriculture. One of the major problems the villages face is lack of electricity, which not only presents risks but limits growth. As a result, the standard of life of the people is very poor. However, with the supply of solar-powered lamps and clean cooking stoves, security in the community will be greatly improved in addition to providing opportunity for more working hours even during the night time, making life for the villagers much better.”

Josephine Babirye, Chairperson, Bugonge community

We are, with your help, distributing the products listed to these villagers – building a brighter future together.
